Zindagi Na Mile Dobara…
Last night I went to see the movie ‘Zindagi Na Mile Dobara’ with few of my friends… It was 1st day last show, similar to most of the movies I have seen this year (don’t get time in daytime). It was a highly awaited movie as me and Bhumi used to watch the promos regularly and used to think, “Kaisi hogi ye movie???” There were many speculations that this movie is a rip-off of Hangover, this movie is inspired by Dil Chahta Hain etc. etc. etc. Infact when I was booking tickets for the movie, I was discussing about the same with my colleague and close friend Mr. Avinash Veer and he said that he might not watch the movie as he felt that the movie is a mix of Hangover and DCH. Well, I saw the movie and I can say that yes, this movie has shades of Hangover and DCH. Come on, it’s bound to happen as the plot is based on Abhay Deol’s Bachelor’s Party and the movie is from the makers of DCH, so thoda inspire hona toh banta hain… Now I am inspired by the movie and plan to learn Spanish and also, I am writing this blog…
The movie shows 3 friends since school time who have a plan of trying out a Bachelor’s Road Trip filled with adventure sports just before one of them gets married. They land up in Spain for the same and are trying out various stunts before one of them gets bounded by the holy system of Matrimony… All through while watching this movie I was reminded of one of my very good friend, ARITRA MUKHERJEE aka Maalik!!! He was one of my close friends at Clemson and he was a part of a very close group. He always used to tell us that once we all are done with our graduation and once we start earning, before we all get married, we all should go to VEGAS once. We all were in for the idea, especially after watching Hangover together. We were inspired by the phrase, “Whatever happens in VEGAS, stays in VEGAS…”
Now the irony of the fact here is that Maalik was the 1st and the only one of so far to get married… Actually Achal too got married recently but I am not sure if he would have joined us for VEGAS. The plan was made between 8-9 of us and we had decided to go to VEGAS irrespective of whatever schedules we had at our jobs. Well, I am in India now, Sushant is at California, Maalik is married and is at Chicago, Nisarg is at Charlotte, Saurabh and Bhanu are at New York, Anirudh is at Florida and rest are in process of getting a job. Maalik, tumne dagga de diya… Well, the VEGAS trip was planned with an intention of having one last blast as bachelors but what I am trying to explain here is that knowingly or unknowingly, we all had a blast during the course of 2 years of studies we completed at Clemson.
We were at our own when we were there. Our Friends were our Families. The roommates were like Brothers-Sisters-Mothers-Fathers to all. I was lucky enough to have some amazing roommates. We all together had great fun and alongwith studies, worked on various different adventures of our own… We used to go together to airports to either drop someone or pick someone, nearby places for food, timepass etc. We also visited some good places which were near to our home. I missed out on couple of visits due to certain unavoidable circumstances but overall we had great fun. I still remember the time when there were around 15 of us together in 1 apartment playing mafia and cards together. Even the carrom nights were legendary. The drinking sessions and the parties hosted at 133 still give me a good chuckle. The potlucks, night outs, watching movies, roadies and CID together was something which I miss a lot these days. Even the way we celebrated all our festivals and the holidays makes me wonder if we can get those days back. Our birthday celebrations used to be wild and at the same time gifting each other during birthdays used to be very emotional. There are many things which can’t be described in words made the entire living experience in USA complete with pleasure.
I have never been to VEGAS, but I can surely say that the 2 years spent together were better than VEGAS. Yes, VEGAS would have been a different fun if we were all there together as Bachelors hanging out in any of the great Casinos, trying our luck and cursing every time none of us won anything. I am sure Maalik would have asked for a party from anyone who won anything.
The 2 years I spent in USA were utmost fun and I can say that I had an awesome Bachelors Party out there with every minute I spent there. I am sure most of my friends will agree with this. Back home in India, I have a very encouraging job and a very settled personal life now, but all I would like to say is that the 2 years spent in USA were my best and wo ‘Zindagi Na Mile Dobara…’
